Good News for all those who want to go to Manali, Rohtang, Pangi, Spiti Valley (Via Manali-Batal) and Ladakh via Manali. The permits for crossing Rohtang Pass & Manali Green Tax payment are now available Here.

It is indeed a welcome move as the tourists had to visit Manali SDM office earlier to get the permits and thus, a lot of precious time was wasted. It was even more a hassle for those who just wanted to cross Rohtang pass to go to Ladakh. They had to spend at-least a day in Manali just to obtain permits.
There are 6 services offered under this portal which are listed below:
- Rohtang Pass Permit : Obtain Rohtang pass permit for a day tour to Rohtang.
- Beyond Rohtang Permit : This is for those who want to cross Rohtang pass to visit places beyond i.e. Ladakh, Spiti, Pangi Valley, Keylong, Sarchu etc.
- Manali Entry (Green Tax) : This is time saving tool for those who just wish to visit Manali and had to wait in queue to get Manali Green Tax permit.
- Check Availability : You can check availability of Permits to reach/cross Rohtang pass for a given date online. Earlier it was only possible by calling SDM office in Manali.
- Validate Permit : This is to validate the permit/congestion fee slip issued to you for Rohtang.
- Check Permit Status / Reprint Permit : This link can be used to check the status of permit issued to you or to take a re-print of your permit if you have misplaced the hard copy.
Things to remember:
Rohtang Pass permit for Tourist purpose to Rohtang pass only
You have to pay permit fee + congestion charges
- Permit Fee (Applicable for those visiting Rohtang Pass for tourism purpose) :-
This is applicable for all vehicles visiting Rohtnag pass for tourism purpose. This tax is applicable on daily basis and accordingly the permits are issued based on daily quota defined by National Green Tribunal(NGT)/District Administration. The tourism permit is valid for one day only (To & Fro).
Mandatory Information required for Rohtang Pass Permit- Valid ID Proof
- Valid Pollution Under Check (PUC) Certificate
- Vehicle Registration Date (Age of vehicle not to be more than 10 yrs)
• Daily Permit Limit :
(i) Petrol Vehicles = 800
(ii) Diesel Vehicles = 400• The permits can be obtained online in two time frames:
(i) 12:00 hrs to 15:00 hrs (200 Diesel and 400 Petrol)
(ii) 17:00 hrs to 24:00 hrs (200 Diesel and 400 Petrol)No Vehicles are allowed on TUESDAY as the day is marked for maintenance of Rohtang Pass.
Permits can only be applied for next 2 days from the current date.

• Vehicles having wrong information on permit as compared to valid proofs will not be allowed to cross the barrier.
• Vehicles will be permitted to CHECK-IN at barrier in two time slots:
(i) 6:00 am to 9:00 am (200 Diesel and 400 Petrol)
(ii) 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (200 Diesel and 400 Petrol)
- Congestion Charges:-
This is applicable for all vehicles crossing Gulaba Bridge. This tax is paid on daily basis and is valid for one day only (To & Fro).

Crossing Rohtang for places beyond (Ladakh, Spiti, Pangi Valley etc.)
You only have to pay congestion charges

This is applicable for all vehicles crossing Gulaba Bridge. This tax is paid on daily basis and is valid for one day only (To & Fro).
Congestion Fees can only be paid for next 2 days from the current date.
Printout is compulsory for all permissions.
• Vehicles having wrong information on CONGESTION FEES SLIP as compared to valid proofs will not be allowed to cross the barrier.

Manali Green Tax
For those going to Manali and have to wait in queue to pay Green tax for Manali.
- COMPOSITE ENVIRONMENTAL FUND (GREEN TAX):-
This is applicable for all vehicles entering Manali. This tax is paid for every vehicle that is not registered in the State of Himachal Pradesh. The permit is valid for seven days.
Permits can only be applied for next 9 days from the current date.
Printout is compulsory for all permissions.
Vehicles having wrong information on Green Tax Slip as compared to valid proofs will not be allowed to cross the barrier.
